FIST UMPSA Champions “Citizen Scientist” Initiative in Earth Day CSR Outreach

The Faculty of Industrial Sciences and Technology (FIST), Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah (UMPSA), reinforced its commitment to community engagement through a “Citizen Scientist” themed outreach during the Earth Day Pantai Walk 2026.

Organised by the Lions Club of Kuantan Metro Pahang, the programme took place at SJKC Kong Min and brought together members of the public in a collective effort to promote environmental awareness and sustainable living.

Under the theme “Citizen Scientist” FIST UMPSA transformed its participation into an interactive knowledge-sharing platform aimed at empowering the community to take an active role in environmental monitoring and protection. The outreach was led by Ts. Dr. Nurul ‘Azyyati Sabri and supported by a dedicated team of FIST lecturers and technical staff, including Dr. Kamrul Fakir bin Kamarudin, Ts. Dr. Khairiah binti Mohd Mokhtar, ChM. Dr. Tay Joo Hui, Ts. Dr. Hong Pui Khoon, Ts. Dr. Lee Chin Mei, ChM. Nurul Nadiah binti Hamidon and Mr. Mohd Farid bin Jaafar, who collectively contributed to the success of the CSR initiative.

The Earth Day CSR programme concluded on a positive note, with FIST UMPSA reaffirming its commitment to advancing community-driven sustainability through education, engagement, and the spirit of citizen science.
