A Global Classroom session was successfully conducted for students enrolled in DRO1463/DRO1153: Introduction to Ergonomics, providing valuable international exposure on ergonomics-related musculoskeletal conditions and workplace health.
The session featured Associate Professor Dr. Benjamin Soon from the Singapore Institute of Technology (SIT), Singapore, as the invited international speaker. Conducted virtually via Google Meet, the programme was coordinated by Ts. Dr. Khairiah binti Mohd Mokhtar as part of Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah’s (UMPSA) ongoing efforts to strengthen global learning experiences and international academic engagement.
During the session, entitled “Ergonomics-Related Musculoskeletal Conditions”, Associate Professor Dr. Benjamin Soon shared valuable insights into the causes, risk factors, and prevention of work-related musculoskeletal conditions, including Carpal Tunnel Syndrome (CTS), Tennis Elbow and Golfer’s Elbow.
The speaker also highlighted practical strategies for preventing musculoskeletal disorders and emphasized the importance of early intervention in promoting workplace health, safety and productivity. Through real-world examples and professional experiences, students gained a deeper understanding of how ergonomic principles can be applied to reduce injury risks and enhance employee well-being.
The session provided an excellent opportunity for students to engage directly with an international expert, broadening their knowledge of contemporary ergonomics practices and strengthening their global perspectives on occupational safety and health.
