Industry Co-Lecture DRO2533 Enhances Students’ Practical Insight in Lifting and Rigging Safety
20 April 2026 | UMPSA Gambang
The Faculty of Industrial Sciences and Technology (FIST), Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah (UMPSA), successfully organized the Industry Co-Lecture Series 1: Lifting and Rigging Safety for the course DRO2533 OSH in Construction on 20 April 2026, held at W–DKU–S–01.
The session was supervised by Miss Zarifah binti Shahri and Associate Professor Dr. Mohd Fadzil bin Mohd Idris, as part of the faculty’s ongoing effort to integrate industry expertise into academic learning.
The invited speaker, Mr. Mohamad Nazlemin bin Mat Hassan, HSE Manager from China Communications Construction Company, shared valuable insights based on his extensive experience in large-scale infrastructure projects. His session provided students with direct exposure to real-world safety practices in construction environments.
The co-lecture focused on key aspects of lifting and rigging safety, including hazard identification, proper equipment handling, and compliance with safety procedures. The session was further enhanced with real-life videos and case-based discussions, enabling students to better understand the consequences of unsafe practices.
This initiative provided meaningful industry exposure, bridging the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application. It also strengthened students’ awareness and preparedness to uphold safety standards in future construction settings.
The programme reflects FIST’s commitment to producing competent and safety-conscious graduates aligned with current industry needs.
