12 June 2026 | UMPSA Gambang

An Industry Co-Lecture session was successfully conducted for students enrolled in the BPS4323 Occupational Safety and Health Management System (OSHMS) course at the Mini Theater, FIST Laboratory, Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah (UMPSA).

The programme was organized by Dr. Wan Norlinda Roshana Mohd Nawi, the course coordinator, with the assistance of students enrolled in the course. The initiative aimed to strengthen students’ understanding of occupational safety and health management through direct engagement with industry practitioners and real-world applications.

The invited speakers were Mr. Mohd Nazaruddin bin Mamat, Manager of Safety and Health, and Mr. Mohd Zakwan bin Zulkifli, Safety Officer from CP Malaysia (Charoen Pokphand Malaysia). Through its subsidiary, PK Agro-Industrial Products (M) Sdn. Bhd., CP Malaysia is part of a leading integrated agribusiness and food production group involved in feed manufacturing, livestock farming, food processing, and sustainable food production.

During the session, Mr. Mohd Nazaruddin shared valuable insights into the company’s Safety, Health, Environment and Energy (SHE&En) Management System, as well as the implementation of the Occupational Safety and Health Act 1994 (Amendment 2022). Leading a network of approximately 40 OSH coordinators across CP Malaysia’s nationwide operations, he highlighted key workplace safety challenges, legal compliance requirements, and effective OSH management strategies adopted by the company.

The speakers also emphasized the importance of integrating safety culture into organizational practices to achieve operational excellence while ensuring the well-being of employees. Students gained valuable exposure to the practical implementation of occupational safety and health management systems within a large-scale industrial setting.

The session concluded with an interactive discussion, allowing students to engage directly with the industry experts and gain deeper insights into contemporary OSH practices. This was followed by a laboratory tour led by the technical staff of the OSH unit and a discussion on potential future collaborations between UMPSA and CP Malaysia in the areas of research, industry engagement, and student development.

Programmes such as this play an important role in bridging academic learning with industry practice, equipping students with relevant knowledge and skills required for their future careers in occupational safety and health.
