Excellence Celebrated at FIST Postgraduate Colloquium 2026; S.M. Istiaque Hamim and Nur Izzati Athirah Named Best Presenters

The Faculty of Industrial Sciences and Technology (FIST), Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah (UMPSA), successfully organized its Postgraduate Colloquium Series 1/2026 at the Library Auditorium, UMPSA Gambang. The half-day academic event brought together postgraduate students and faculty members to share research progress and foster scholarly discussion.
The colloquium was organized in collaboration with four research clusters within the faculty, namely Advanced Functional Materials (AFM), Occupational Safety, Health and Environment (OSHE), BioSphere (Biological Sciences), and Chemistry for Advanced Technology (ChemAT). A total of eight postgraduate students presented their latest research findings through 20-minute presentation sessions, including question-and-answer discussions.
The programme commenced with welcoming remarks and a safety briefing, followed by an opening address delivered by Ts. Dr. Muhammad Hafiz bin Mazwir, Deputy Dean of Student and Alumni Affairs, FIST.
Two awards were presented in recognition of outstanding presentations during the colloquium:
- Best Presenter (Master’s Level): S.M. Istiaque Hamim
- Best Presenter (PhD Level): Nur Izzati Athirah binti Mat Hussain
The awards were presented by Ts. Dr. Muhammad Hafiz bin Mazwir, accompanied by Ts. Dr. Khairiah binti Mohd Mokhtar, Head of the Occupational Safety, Health and Environment (OSHE) Research Cluster.
The colloquium was organized by a committee led by Ts. Dr. Wan Zaiton binti Wan Sulaiman as Programme Director. The event reflects FIST’s continuous commitment to enhancing postgraduate research culture, promoting scholarly communication, and supporting Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) initiatives within the faculty.
The programme concluded with a closing session, followed by a group photography session and the distribution of packed lunches to all participants.
