The Role of HSE Practitioner in Preventing Major Incidents
A co-lecture session for the BPS2143 Industrial Safety subject was conducted on 18th June 2025 at WDK-16. The session featured Encik Mohd Faisal Bin Seman @ Abdullah, the QHSE Manager at Reservoir Link Energy, who delivered an insightful talk titled “The Role of HSE Practitioner in Preventing Major Incidents.”
Drawing from his extensive experience in the oil and gas industry, Encik Mohd Faisal highlighted the critical responsibilities of Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) professionals in mitigating risks and implementing preventive measures to avoid major industrial incidents. He emphasized the importance of proactive safety culture, hazard identification, and the need for continuous monitoring and improvement within high-risk operations.
Students had the opportunity to gain firsthand knowledge of real-life case studies and best practices from the field. The session also explored practical aspects of root cause analysis, and how strategic HSE planning plays a key role in protecting lives, assets, and the environment. The co-lecture served as a platform to bridge academic learning with industry realities, reinforcing the importance of competent safety leadership in today's complex industrial landscape.
