4 June 2025 | FIST Industry Co-Lecture: DRS1513 – Material Science

On 4 June 2025, 16 students from the Diploma in Industrial Sciences (Material Technology) programme attended a special online lecture on Printed Electronics delivered by Dr. Farah Nabilah Shafiee, Chief Executive Officer of Serdang Paste Tech (SPTech) Sdn. Bhd. The session held from 2:00 to 4:00 pm was part of the DRS1513 Materials Science course taught by Dr. Rodziah binti Nazlan.

The lecture was organized with the objective of introducing students to the fundamental principles of printed electronics, examining the influence of material properties on device performance, and evaluating emerging applications and future directions in the field. Dr. Farah Nabilah provided an in-depth overview of the main components used in printed electronics, such as conductive inks and flexible substrates, as well as various printing techniques employed in manufacturing. Drawing from her industrial experience, she highlighted real-world applications in areas such as wearable technology, medical devices, and smart packaging. The session offered students valuable exposure to real-world practices and technological advancements, thereby bridging academic learning with industrial relevance. The lecture concluded with an interactive Q&A session, where students engaged actively and displayed a high level of interest in the subject matter.
