Global Safety Day 2026 Strengthens Safety Culture Through UMPSA–Industry Knowledge Sharing

5 August 2026 | Gebeng, Pahang

In conjunction with the Global Safety Days 2026 celebration organised by BASF Petronas Chemicals (BPC) Gebeng under the theme “Think Safe • Act Safe • Win Together”, an exclusive online webinar was successfully conducted for executive-level personnel and above within the BPC organisation, together with key partner subcontractors.

The webinar, held from 10.00 a.m. to 11.00 a.m., featured Ts. Dr. Ahmad Soyuti bin Haji Sabran, Senior Lecturer from Faculty of Industrial Sciences and Technology (FIST), Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah (UMPSA), who delivered a keynote lecture entitled “Safety Culture Maturity – Integrating Intention, Action, and Human Performance”.

During the session, Ts. Dr. Ahmad Soyuti shared insights into evaluating and strengthening organisational safety culture maturity by integrating behavioural intention with tangible actions and human performance. The topic highlighted the importance of translating safety awareness and intentions into consistent workplace practices to support a stronger and more sustainable safety culture.

Despite being conducted virtually, the webinar generated active engagement among participants. The keynote session was followed by an interactive question-and-answer session, providing an opportunity for participants to discuss safety culture and human performance directly with the speaker.

The programme concluded with an interactive Kahoot! quiz, which received enthusiastic participation and added an engaging element to reinforce key points shared throughout the session.

Overall, the programme provided a valuable platform for academic–industry knowledge sharing in occupational safety and health. The collaboration between UMPSA and BPC also reflects continued efforts to strengthen safety excellence through the exchange of expertise and engagement between academia and industry stakeholders.
