18 May 2026 | Kuantan, Pahang

A total of 35 students from the Faculty of Industrial Sciences and Technology (FIST), Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah (UMPSA), participated in an industrial visit to FGV Kernel Products Sdn. Bhd., Semambu. The visit aimed to enhance students’ understanding of industrial operations and expose them to real-world applications within the manufacturing sector.

The programme was organised by the Persatuan Mahasiswa Fakulti Sains dan Teknologi Industri (SCITEXS), with Nur Azimah Sharudin serving as the Programme Director. The initiative was overseen by ChM. Nurul Nadiah binti Hamidon as the advisor, while ChM. Dr. Wan Norfazilah binti Wan Ismail accompanied the students throughout the programme.

During the visit, students were guided by Encik Ibara, who provided detailed explanations of the company’s operations and the overall palm kernel processing workflow. Students had the opportunity to observe various operational sections within the facility, including production processes, processing equipment, quality control procedures, and industrial safety practices implemented at the plant.

The industrial visit provided valuable exposure to how palm kernel raw materials are processed into commercial products while maintaining operational efficiency, product quality, and workplace safety standards. Students also gained insights into sustainable industrial practices, environmental management, and the importance of quality assurance in supporting Malaysia’s palm oil industry.

Beyond technical exposure, the programme enabled students to connect classroom theories with actual industrial applications while increasing their awareness of potential career opportunities in the chemistry, manufacturing, and industrial sectors. The visit also contributed to strengthening students’ communication skills, teamwork, and professional understanding of industry expectations.

Programmes such as this reflect FIST UMPSA’s continuous commitment to producing graduates equipped with practical knowledge, industrial exposure, and competencies aligned with current workforce demands.
