3 June 2026 | Kuantan, Pahang

A total of 15 students enrolled in the BPS3693 Hazardous Waste Management course from the Faculty of Industrial Sciences and Technology (FIST), Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah (UMPSA), participated in an industrial visit to Greenverse Sdn. Bhd. in Gebeng, Pahang. The visit aimed to enhance students’ understanding of scheduled waste management and its role in protecting both the environment and occupational health.

During the visit, students were introduced to the company’s integrated approach to scheduled waste management, which focuses on sustainability and the principles of the circular economy. They learned how scheduled wastes can be recovered, recycled, and transformed into valuable resources, thereby reducing environmental impact and promoting resource conservation.

The students also gained insights into waste oil recovery, solvent recovery, industrial cleaning processes, as well as the safe handling, storage, and disposal of scheduled wastes in accordance with environmental regulations and industry best practices.

The visit was coordinated by Dr. Nor Ashikin binti Sopian, who also accompanied the students throughout the programme. The industrial visit provided valuable exposure to real-world waste management operations and enabled students to interact directly with industry professionals, strengthening their understanding of sustainable waste management practices and their application in occupational safety and health.

Such industry engagement activities play an important role in bridging classroom learning with professional practice, preparing future OSH practitioners to effectively address environmental and workplace safety challenges.
