FSTI Students Gain Global Exposure Through International Summer School at Hebei University, China

A total of 17 students from the Faculty of Industrial Sciences and Technology (FIST), Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah (UMPSA), participated in the International Summer School Program organised by Hebei University, China. The students were accompanied by Dr. Aini Norhidayah Binti Mohamed as the accompanying lecturer.

Throughout the two-week programme, participants were exposed to various aspects of photovoltaics and solar energy technology through a series of lectures, academic visits, and learning activities with industry experts. These activities provided students with valuable insights into renewable energy technologies and their applications.

In addition to the academic components, participants had the opportunity to experience Chinese culture through various activities, including Chinese knot-making, calligraphy, martial arts, as well as the preparation and introduction to traditional Chinese cuisine. These activities provided meaningful cross-cultural experiences while encouraging interaction and appreciation of the local culture.

As part of the programme, participants also visited Xiong'an New Area, a new urban development designed as a smart and sustainable development hub in China. The visit provided students with first-hand exposure to modern urban planning and the integration of technology and sustainability in the development of a future-oriented city.

Overall, the International Summer School Program not only strengthened participants’ knowledge of renewable energy, particularly photovoltaic and solar energy technologies, but also broadened their perspectives on Chinese culture, innovation, and development. The programme provided a valuable international learning experience that complemented students’ academic development while enhancing their global exposure and cross-cultural understanding.
