18 April 2026 | UMPSA Gambang

An academic program titled “Visualize and Insight: Power BI & SciDAVis” was successfully held at WDK 17 from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

The program featured two distinguished speakers: ChM. Ts. Dr. Shamsul bin Zakaria, who conducted the session on Power BI, and Prof. Madya Ts. Dr. Saifful Kamaluddin bin Muzakir@Lokman, who delivered the session on SciDAVis.

The program aimed to expose students to the fundamentals of data analysis and highlight its importance in both academic and industrial contexts. In today’s digital era, data handling and interpretation skills are essential, especially for making informed and effective decisions.

During the Power BI session, participants were introduced to the data analytics platform developed by Microsoft. The session focused on data processing techniques, creating interactive dashboards, and producing professional data-driven reports. These skills help students understand Business Intelligence concepts, identify trends, and present data in a clear and structured manner aligned with current industry practices.

In the SciDAVis session, the focus shifted to scientific data analysis, particularly in laboratory and research applications. Participants learned how to process experimental data, generate scientific graphs, and perform basic statistical analysis. Mastering this software is beneficial for preparing academic reports, final year projects, and research work in a more organized and high-quality manner.

Overall, the program successfully achieved its objectives by providing both theoretical knowledge and hands-on experience. It not only enhanced students’ understanding of data analysis and visualization but also equipped them with practical skills relevant to academic tasks and professional demands.

Such initiatives are expected to continue in the future to produce graduates who are competent and well-prepared for the evolving data-driven world.
