BACKGROUND
Materials are the index of human progress! Human civilization and progress has been ranked in terms of materials during their evolution as stone age, iron age, bronze age etc. Along with the exciting developments in electronics, communication, and transportation in the second half of the twentieth century, the huge potential of multifunctional and hybrid materials in nanometer size dimensions have been unfolded into a fascinating wide spectrum of opportunities. The advanced materials cluster of FIST strives to excel in the area of innovative multifunctional and hybrid materials for a range of applications from renewable energy devices to cost effective household furniture’s. We aim to attract capital investments in the areas of metals, metal oxides, polymers, and polymer – nanocomposites, carbon nanotubes, graphene, liquid crystals, advanced catalysts, and various multifunctional organic materials. The cluster undertakes cutting edge research on a range of functionalities such as conducting, semiconducting, dielectric, superconducting, photonic properties of the materials for technological advancements. The advanced materials cluster is teamed up from scientists from various disciplines including Physics, Chemistry, and Materials Science with strong international exposure and networks.
