‘Lab to Market’
A webinar titles ‘Lab to Market’ took place on 15th June 2023, featuring two academicians from Faculty of Industrial Sciences and Technology (FIST), Assoc. Prof. Dr. Aizi Nor Mazila Binti Ramli and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Saiful Nizam Bin Tajuddin as the speakers.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Aizi shared her remarkable experience in commercializing pineapple by-products as the alternative to the conventional method of using rubberwood sawdust in cultivating mushrooms. She also provided the audience with overview of grants and funding sources available for researchers in bridging the gap between the laboratory and the market.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Saiful shared his experience in development growth of Bioaromatic Research Centre since 2014, and the journey of commercialization of bio based products for flavor and fragrance, with the focus area in agro technology, innovative sensor and synthetic biology.
Overall, the ‘Lab to Market’ webinar was an informative and inspiring session, offering academicians from FIST a glimpse into the practical aspects of converting research into marketable products.
