She Studied the Air in Hospitals - And Just Nailed Her PhD Defense. Congratulations, Nor Husna!

 3 March 2026 | UMPSA Gambang

Congratulations to Nor Husna binti Mat Husin on successfully defending her thesis entitled:

“Metagenomic Assessment of Indoor Air Microbiome as a Potential Source of Respiratory Symptoms among Healthcare Workers”

The viva voce was held online on 2 March 2026 and was chaired by Prof Dr Wan Sharuzi bin Wan Harun, with Prof Dr Mohd Shahir Shamsir bin Omar (External Examiner, UTM) and Assoc Prof Dr Aizi Nor Mazila binti Ramli serving as examiners.

Her research explores the composition of indoor air microbiomes and their possible association with respiratory symptoms among healthcare workers — an issue of increasing importance in occupational and environmental health.

Throughout the session, Nor Husna demonstrated strong scientific understanding, methodological rigor, and confidence in defending her findings. Her work contributes valuable insight into microbial exposure in healthcare environments and its potential health implications.

This achievement reflects not only her perseverance and dedication, but also the strong research ecosystem within the Faculty.

Heartfelt appreciation to her supervisor, Assoc Prof Dr Hajar Fauzan bin Ahmad, and co-supervisor, Dr Junaidah binti Zakaria, for their guidance and continuous mentorship throughout this journey.

We wish Dr-to-be Nor Husna continued success in her academic and professional endeavors.
