Industrial Insight through Co-Lecturing Session
1 June 2025 – Gambang. The Faculty of Industrial Sciences and Technology (FIST), Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah (UMPSA), recently had the honour of hosting a co-lecturing session featuring guest speaker Ms. Nurul 'Afina binti Mohd Azmi, a Production Engineer from Elektrisola (M) Sdn. Bhd. The session was conducted online on 1 June 2025, from 8:00 to 9:00 PM.
This interactive engagement was part of the BSP3503 Solar Cell Technology course attended by 10 Bachelor of Applied Sciences (Material Technology with Honours) students. The session aimed to bridge theoretical learning with practical industry exposure, in line with the faculty's commitment to producing industry-ready graduates. During the session, Ms. Nurul 'Afina began with an informative introduction to Elektrisola (M) Sdn. Bhd., a well-established company known globally for its production of fine and ultra-fine copper wire. She highlighted the company’s history, core values, and manufacturing operations in Bentong, Pahang.
One of the key highlights of the evening was the sharing of internship opportunities at Elektrisola, where students were given valuable insights into what the company looks for in interns and how they can prepare themselves to meet these expectations. Ms. Nurul 'Afina also shared her personal journey as a young engineer in the field, offering honest advice on how students can gear themselves for the transition into the working world. Students were particularly engaged during her sharing on current technologies used in the manufacturing sector, including automation systems and sustainable practices. Her presentation was followed by a lively Q&A session, where students asked questions ranging from career paths to the application of solar cell technologies in industrial settings.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Saifful Kamaluddin, the course lecturer, expressed appreciation for the session, noting, "Exposures like these are crucial for our students. It opens their eyes to real-world applications of what they learn in class and inspires them to plan their future careers more strategically." The faculty extends its heartfelt gratitude to Ms. Nurul 'Afina and Elektrisola (M) Sdn. Bhd. for their generous support and collaboration. Such industry-academia engagements are key drivers in enriching student learning experiences and fostering future-ready talents.
