A co-lecture session for the BPS2143 Industrial Safety subject was conducted on 18th June 2025 at WDK-16. The session featured Encik Mohd Faisal Bin Seman @ Abdullah, the QHSE Manager at Reservoir Link Energy, who delivered an insightful talk titled “The Role of HSE Practitioner in Preventing Major Incidents.”

On 18 June 2025, the students of BSB3593 Biosensor Technology from Industrial Biotechnology, led by AP. Dr. Nina Suhaity Binti Azmi, had the privilege of joining an engaging co-lecture session with Dr. Farah Asilah Binti Azri from Biogenes Technologies Sdn. Bhd., a key player in the field of molecular diagnostics.
Themed “Aptamer-Based Electrochemical Biosensor: Tools for Molecular Diagnostics,” the session provided an insightful deep dive into:
Overview of Biogenes Technologies Sdn. Bhd. and its role in biotech innovation
Aptamer technologies and their fabrication
Sensor development and detection techniques
Introduction to biosensors and aptamer-based diagnostics
This collaborative session enriched the learning experience by connecting classroom knowledge with real-world industry applications, aligning with the course objectives to expose students to current biosensor trends and practices.
A total of 49 participants, including FIST students, BSB3593 students, and guests who joined the session via Microsoft Teams.

The Faculty of Industrial Science and Technology (FIST), Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah (UMPSA) has successfully organized the 5th Academic and Research Colloquium (COAR 2025) in collaboration with the College of Fisheries, Central Luzon State University (CLSU), Philippines.
This program is a continuation of the COAR colloquium series that has been taking place since 2021 as an initiative to strengthen international academic and research networks.
The opening ceremony was officiated by Associate Professor Dr. Aizi Nor Mazila binti Ramli, Dean of FSTI, UMPSA, welcoming the presence of Professor Dr. Ravelina R. Velasco, Vice President, Student Affairs CLSU and Associate Professor Dr. Hazel Monica Matias-Peralta, Acting Dean of the College of Fisheries, CLSU as the main co-organizer of the program.
COAR 2025, themed “Sustainable Biotechnology for Food Security”, focuses on research and education efforts in agricultural biotechnology that are relevant to global food security challenges.
The program brought together researchers and academics from both universities with the presence of guest speakers from CLSU, namely Associate Professor Dr. Franz Marielle Garcia, Director of the Crop and Resources Research and Development Center (CRRDC), Associate Professor Dr. Joel Juvinal, Head of the Food Science and Technology Department, Professor Dr. Rich Milton Dulay, Head of the Center for Tropical Mushroom Research and Development (CTMRD).
Meanwhile, FSTI UMPSA also featured experienced researchers including Associate Professor Dr. Nina Suhaity Binti Azmi, Dr. Mohd Fazli Bin Farida Asras, and Dr. Nazira Mahmud as head of the Industrial Biotechnology Program. The program was attended by at least 120 participants consisting of students and researchers from both institutions.
According to the program director, Dr. Tan Suat Hian, this collaboration not only strengthens the bilateral relationship between UMPSA and CLSU, but also opens up space for the implementation of student exchange programs, international industrial training, Global Classroom activities, and the development of joint research projects of international standard.
COAR 2025 is also a strategic field in supporting the implementation of UMPSA's 2021-2025 Strategic Cores, namely Holistic Graduates (1A), New Knowledge Generation (3A), and Student Internationalization (6A).
Previous COAR events also involved international collaborations with institutions such as the Federal University of Minas Gerais, Brazil (2021), Universitas Airlangga, Indonesia (2022), University of The Philippines Diliman (2023) and Universitas Negeri Malang (2024).
UMPSA, through FSTI, continues to be committed to expanding its global network and developing academic and research capacity in line with the university's aspirations towards international excellence.
LAWATAN PENANDAARASAN PROGRAM DRS KE UITM JENGKA: PERKONGSIAN STRATEGIK UNTUK PENAMBAHBAIKAN PROGRAM DIPLOMA
11 Jun 2025 – Fakulti Sains dan Teknologi Industri (FSTI), Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah (UMPSA) telah mengadakan satu lawatan penandaarasan ke UiTM Cawangan Pahang, Kampus Jengka, khususnya ke Pusat Pengajian Sains, Fakulti Sains Gunaan. Lawatan ini bertujuan memperkukuh amalan pelaksanaan akademik serta memperkasa kolaborasi antara institusi. melibatkan program Diploma Sains Industri, FSTI, UMPSA dan program Diploma Sains, UiTM.
Lawatan ini telah disambut oleh ChM. Dr. Zurhana binti Mat Hussin, Koordinator Prasiswazah, yang turut mengetuai sesi libat urus pada hari tersebut. Fokus utama lawatan ini adalah untuk meninjau pelaksanaan program Diploma Sains di UiTM serta mengenalpasti amalan terbaik berkaitan pembangunan kurikulum, pengurusan pelajar, serta pelaksanaan pengajaran dan pembelajaran, dan penilaian akademik.
Sepanjang sesi lawatan, delegasi FSTI diketuai oleh Ts. Dr. Farah Hanani binti Zulkifli, Ketua Program Diploma Sains Industri, dan turut disertai oleh dua orang pensyarah kanan iaitu Dr. Nurjannah Salim (Koordinator Latihan Industri) dan Dr. Siti Maznah Kabeb (Koordinator Peperiksaan) telah diberikan taklimat komprehensif berkaitan struktur dan strategi pelaksanaan program diploma di UiTM, termasuk pendekatan Outcome-Based Education (OBE), sistem pemantauan pelajar dan hubungan dengan pihak institusi/industri.
Menurut Ketua Program Diploma Sains Industri UMPSA, Ts. Dr. Farah Hanani binti Zulkifli, lawatan ini amat bermanfaat dalam memberi perspektif baharu ke arah penambahbaikan program DRS. Dapatan daripada lawatan ini akan dimanfaatkan sebagai input kepada semakan dalaman program serta pelaksanaan Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI), khususnya dalam usaha menyelaras program dengan keperluan profesional dan kehendak industri semasa.
FSTI UMPSA merakamkan setinggi-tinggi penghargaan kepada pihak UiTM Jengka atas kesediaan menerima kunjungan ini serta berharap jaringan kolaborasi ini dapat diteruskan dalam pelbagai bentuk pada masa akan datang.
4 June 2025 | FIST Industry Co-Lecture: DRS1513 – Material Science
On 4 June 2025, 16 students from the Diploma in Industrial Sciences (Material Technology) programme attended a special online lecture on Printed Electronics delivered by Dr. Farah Nabilah Shafiee, Chief Executive Officer of Serdang Paste Tech (SPTech) Sdn. Bhd. The session held from 2:00 to 4:00 pm was part of the DRS1513 Materials Science course taught by Dr. Rodziah binti Nazlan.
The lecture was organized with the objective of introducing students to the fundamental principles of printed electronics, examining the influence of material properties on device performance, and evaluating emerging applications and future directions in the field. Dr. Farah Nabilah provided an in-depth overview of the main components used in printed electronics, such as conductive inks and flexible substrates, as well as various printing techniques employed in manufacturing. Drawing from her industrial experience, she highlighted real-world applications in areas such as wearable technology, medical devices, and smart packaging. The session offered students valuable exposure to real-world practices and technological advancements, thereby bridging academic learning with industrial relevance. The lecture concluded with an interactive Q&A session, where students engaged actively and displayed a high level of interest in the subject matter.

Demonstrasi alatan makmal berkaitan Immunotechnology
Demonstrasi ini dimulakan dengan lawatan ke Makmal Berpusat. Lawatan tersebut dimulai dengan ucapan aluan oleh En Fadhlullah bin Rahman, pegawai sains kanan di Makmal Berpusat. Mikroskop pertama yang dilawati ialah ‘fluorescence research microscope’. Mikroskop berkenaan digunakan untuk mengamati spesieman yang memancarkan fluoresen, baik secara alami mahupun diberikan pewarna fluoresen. Setelah itu, para pelajar dibawa untuk melihat demonstrasi mikroskop elektron. Terdapat 2 mikroskop electron iaitu ‘Scanning Electron Microscope’ dan ‘Field Emission Scanning Electron Microscope with EDX’. Mikroskop tersebut merupakan alat canggih yang menggunakan berkas electron untuk memperbesar dan memvisualisasikan objek dengan resolusi sangat tinggi, hingga skala nanometer. Para pelajar diberi peluang untuk melihat mikroskop tersebut secara dekat dan melihat contoh-contoh gambar yang dihasilkan oleh mikroskop-mikroskop tersebut.
Selain melihat demonstrasi mikroskop, para pelajar dibawa melawat ‘Microplate Reader’ di Makmal FSTI. Sesi demonstrasi ini dikendalikan oleh Encik Muhamad Husainin bin Sulaiman, penolong pegawai sains FSTI. Mesin tersebut befungsi untuk mengesan reaksi biologi, kimia atau fizik pada sampel yang ditempatkan dalam mikroplat. Para pelajar diberi peluang untuk melihat mesin tersebut secara dekat dan melihat output yang dihasilkan oleh mesin tersebut.
Demonstrasi berakhir pada jam 1 petang.
Program CSR STEM & Promosi Program Akademik, Fakulti Sains dan Teknologi Industri, UMPSA ke SMK Sultan Abu Bakar

Satu Program CSR Stem dan Promosi Program Akademik telah dijalankan oleh Fakulti Sains dan Teknologi Industri (FSTI), UMPSA ke Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Sultan Abu Bakar, Kuantan, pada 10 Jun 2025. Seramai lima orang pensyarah FSTI hadir menyertai program, Bersama dengan guru-guru dan 50 orang murid tingkatan 6 SMK Abu Bakar. Puan Norhayati Nordin selaku wakil jawatankuasa promosi program memberi penerangan ringkas mengenai sejarah ringkas UMPSA, lokasi kampus dan program yang ditawarkan di UMPSA dan di FSTI. Ketua teknikal, iaitu Dr Kamrul Fakir dan beberapa staff teknikal memberikan penerangan mengenai fasiliti yang terdapat di Makmal FSTI melalui sidang video secara langsung. Ketua dan wakil program memberikan penerangan mengenai maklumat program, syarat kelayakan dan peluang pekerjaan. Dr Nazikussabah memberikan penerangan mengenai program Kimia Industri, Dr Nurul Huda mengenai program Teknologi Bahan, Dr Nor Adila mengenai program Bioteknologi Industri dan Dr Wan Zaiton mengenai program Keselamatan dan Kesihatan Pekerjaan. Pelajar- pelajar memberikan respon yang baik terhadap program ini, dan menyatakan minat untuk memilih program yang ditawarkan di FSTI.
FSTI Industry Co-Lecture: BSK 3103 - Organic Spectroscopy
NMR Application in Organic Spectroscopy
On 10 June 2025, the Faculty of Science and Technology Industry (FSTI) successfully conducted an Industry Co-Lecture session for the BSK 3103 – Organic Spectroscopy course. The lecture was delivered by Dr. Teh Chin Hoe, a guest speaker from Bruker, Malaysia and was held virtually via Microsoft Teams.
The session, attended by 31 participants, included an overview of the NMR spectrometer hardware, the basic principles of NMR, key observables such as chemical shifts, coupling, and intensity, as well as practical examples. The session featured active participation from students and faculty members, fostering engagement with real-world analytical techniques in organic chemistry.
